I have a ‘22 Tacoma, and recently got a set of 20-year old alloy rims that looked decent for my winter tires.

When I first installed it, they drove fine. Then the roads here in Alaska went to shit for a week and were super deep snow or icy ruts. After that, I noticed the tell tale out of balance shimmy at high speeds. I figured I lost a wheelweight in the snow.

I took them to get balanced. Then, when I drove on it it still felt out of balance. Took it back to to the shop, and they say all the rims are slightly warped and sort of egg shaped. Not majorly, but just enough to cause my vibration.

Does this sound legit or should I try to get them balanced elsewhere?

Jack up your truck and spin the wheels by hand while watching the rim edges. If the wheels are bent, your will see it.
