I need to get my car state emmision inspection (new york) test performed soon, and in order to do this, I need to make sure my cars “Readiness Monitors” are in a “ready” or “complete” state.
The reason why I am asking is that I recently cleared a check engine light (gas cap not on tight) and when you do that, it resets the “readiness monitors” of the car’s computers and you need to do “drive cycle” (drive around for a while) before the monitors will be in a “ready” state.
But my inspection is due to expire in two days and I was lucky enough to find the exact procedure to do a “drive cycle” for my car to get the readiness monitors to be in a “ready” state.
But after I do this drive cycle procedure, I want to make sure that the readiness monitors are in fact in a “ready” state so when I go to the emission testing facility, they won’t tell me that the drive cycle was not perfomed correctly and then waste everyones time.
So, does anyone know which android app (free or low cost) can display the “readiness monitor” status?
Hit an autozone or other parts store that does free scans, one of the things they can do is read the monitors.
This is what I ended up purchasing :)
The $20 Walmart code reader has a readiness monitor test.
That is a standard feature of any OBD reader so they all should have it. All depends on which one will work with your OBD adapter.
