Ok, the title tells it all. The GT3 & GT4 get a lot of attention, and rightly so, from Porsche fans. In current guise they are brutal track machines, yet many of us don’t track our Porsches. I however find them too flashy in standard guise, and quite honestly would prefer, say a 997.1 Turbo.

So, get in your votes and give us your thoughts on your Porsche of choice if you don’t track your car. (SUV and Panamera owners / lovers are welcome to chime in!)

Absolutely not. Money no object, and assuming you’re only picking from factory options, the Dakar is the one to get. Less delicate, more versatile, and still a head-turner.

After watching reviews of the S/T… that one. It has everything I’d probably want from a modern Porsche.

I love my 981 Boxster S but I think the ultimate non track Porsche would be a 992 C4S- usable year round, almost as fast as a Turbo, not so expensive that I’d be nervous to drive in traffic or on a twisty back road

Unless there was some insane value proposition I wouldn’t buy either of those if I wasn’t going on the track. They’re track cars that are street legal - that’s a HUGE compromise if it will never visit one.

718 Spyder or 911 Spyder would be my pick. You can’t beat a 9k rpm manual with unlimited headroom.

If it wasn’t a 911 Turbo or Turbo S it would be my Cayman GTS. It’s almost too much for most roads and the perfect daily. The Turbo is amazing too but I think how fast it is would get me in more trouble.

911 4 GTS all the way. Fantastic torque, brilliant exhaust note… this is what I’d tour with… and if I found myself on a track, pretty handy there too!

I’ve dailied a GT3 for years. If you don’t have kids (or need to take them), it is still tons of fun. Now I do have canyons on my way to my office so I can actually have a little fun and I have a few other cars if I need to pick up kids etc so it’s not solely the GT3s but mostly.

Turbos are fine but there’s far less theatre and excitement when driving them. They are impressive cars but honestly I’ve had a couple of C2/C2S and I’d go with one of those over a turbo as a daily. The turbo offers you almost nothing of value over a C2S as a daily. It’s not like you’re gonna drag race it on the way to work over and over. Might as well save the money.

Never owned a GT4 so can’t really speak to that.

I think they’re amazing (and I tracked a borrowed GT4 once), but for a daily my choice would be the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 with a 6-speed. I drive a manual 718 Cayman now, and love it, but love the idea of ordering a manual 4 liter in some ridiculous spec/color
