Sorry for the dumb and super specific question, but someday when I get a steam deck, I’m assuming that it will save my progress to a cloud so that I can pick up on my PC where I left off on the deck and same thing for the other way around?

If that’s the case, would the save system still work if I had a game modded on my PC? Like if had Skyrim modded then played it on my deck, would the save go through or would it not work since it’s modded on my PC.

Sorry again for the strange question.

You mean modding the game on your desktop but not on your deck? I assume that attempting to load a modded save on your deck without the mods actually being present in the game folder would cause errors and might not be able to load at all. I might be wrong, but I doubt the cloud can do anything with ESPs, ESMs, or anything like that.

Aaah I gotcha. I was worried that might be the case, but it makes sense. Do you think that could still be an issue if the only mods being used were cosmetic?

Actually now that you mention it, I guess meshes, textures, sounds, and even animations might work. As long as the game still has access to all the files with the correct names in the correct folders, even if the files themselves are technically different. Try it out and let us know how it goes!
