Interested to know what everyone does when they have a formal date or wedding etc. do you wear your Apple Watch as is? Switch a band out? Go watch less? Switch to a nicer watch (Swiss, seiko) etc.
I wear my AW during a wedding. The bride and groom does not want anyone taking out phones because it can cause distractions. My Apple Watch is cellular, so it’s not a problem for me
If I was in the wedding party, I’d wear my Tag Heuer. Anything else and I’ll switch to the leather link band most of the time.
It’s a watch.
Exactly, you’re not supposed to wear watches to formal engagements, let alone smartwatches!
It’s a phone with a band.
Genius!
I have an Apple Watch Ultra for diving (I’m a marine biologist) and working out, and a Series 9 stainless steel for other occasions.
Precovid I wore my Apple Watch everyday everywhere
Now, it’s only when I travel and or errands / working out.
I wear an analog watch dive watches primarily now
I have my previous watch’s Nike Nylon band and I bought Blue Alpine Loop band for my Apple Watch Ultra so when I do workout I switch to Nike Band and when I go to work I use Blue Alpine Loop Band
Going to get downvoted, but a gadget tied to your wrist is never a classy look, even if the band is fancier. Wouldn’t wear my AW to a wedding, but so many people do, it’s no longer a real faux pas. Just a personal preference. People wear dirty, unmatching shoes with suits as well.
No downvote but who do you hang out with that wears dirty, unmatched shoes with a suit. I’m shocked those same ppl actually *have * suits. Btw … for those occasions, I wear a glittery, high end band with glittery surround and classic watch face but that’s me.
I used to get a little self conscious wearing them in formal dress situations years ago when they were newer. Now they are so mainstream nobody would think twice about it. I still will swap in a leather band for those situations now
Only time I took it off when out was for bars/clubbing because I always felt a little out of place with it on. Everywhere else it stays on at all times aside from sleep
I’ll just swap in a more formal/conservative band if it seems warranted. It’s 2023 - it’s pretty normal to wear a smartwatch.
I have a couple automatics I wear when smart devices are not allowed.
Could you give examples of places where smart watches/devices are not allowed? I’m not sure I can think of a situation apart from taking an official exam.
You also can’t wear jewellery of any kind, including watches when working at any food manufacturing facility.
Certain government agencies have rooms that don’t allow devices in them. Source: spouse works for one of these agencies and has to leave Bluetooth devices before entering the space.
In rooms where sensitive information is being said in your not permitted any smart device unless it’s issued from your organization and that usually gets kept at location.
With the gold Milanese loop to match my case, my watch looks nicer/more luxurious than a lot of analog watches out there haha. The band makes a big difference
Yup but also the case material. For me (and apple marketing professionals probably) :
SS+Milanese+analog= squared classic watch
SS+Sport loop+loads of complications= premium sport watch
AL+milanese+analog= sportive guy (or girl) which also dresses formal
AL+sport loop+complications= purely sportive Watch
That’s how apple probably meant it to push us to spend more on the SS since (imho) it looks better in every occasion.
The problem to me isn’t that much the price but rather the impossibility to swap the battery.
You can replace the battery tho
Not easily, cheaply, or safely tho
I have a nice leather band, matches my nicer belt and then I change up the face to be minimalistic.
Switch the band and the watch face pending the event but my Apple Watch is always on
I switch back to either the S0 or S4 Stainless Steel
