If increased glare = “clearer and brighter”, sure. But then you have the glare, which IMO is worse. In a dark environment it won’t even make a difference. Buy a screen protector if you want to protect the screen.

People I believe are being nitpicky with the glossy vs etched glass tbh. I do believe putting a screen protector on will more so replicate the glossy finish from what I’ve found online. It will also take away the anti glare effects.

So in reality it appears you can get similar effects from either steam deck depending on what screen protector you put on. From my understanding at least

It’s not a cellphone that gets thrown in a pocket or bag, it’s a two handed device with a carrying case. It doesn’t need a screen protector.

Put one on my matte LCD and it was never an issue visually and saved me from scratches.

Made me realize the matte screen was pretty pointless to me and got a glossy OLED to save some money.
