I have a 2016 Subaru Outback with 112,000 miles on it. I’ve never changed the transmission fluid before and wondering if it would be a bad idea to do it now. I’ve heard that it can end up causing slippage and other problems if you wait this long. Does anyone know if there’s truth to that?
It’s usually every 30k miles. Check your car’s service book for last change and the hand book for recommended transmission service intervals (along with the correct fluid to use) as recommended by Subaru. Confirm everything with the manufacturer/dealer and seek their advice and maybe schedule the job to be done by them; transmissions are expensive!
