I remember with an old iphone or something someone said to let it deplete first then do a full charge. Is there something like that I should do with the Deck?

Download decky loader, download the power tools 1.4 plugin, set maximum charge to 80-85%. Turn on persistent profile and do this for every game you play after launching. It takes a couple seconds to set it to 80-85% for a new game (two toggles and moving a bar to 80/85) Bonus: now since you have decky check out the other plugins and see if any of them appeal to you

Sure, just throw away 15-20% of your time on battery for absolutely no good reason. Excellent advice.

For long-term battery health yeah it objectively helps. Theoretically quadrupling your maximum number of charge cycles over the lifespan of the battery. Best practice for longevity without much compromise is to maintain a battery between 20% and 80% for lithium ion. This goes for literally anything using this type of battery which is most electronics these days. Laptops, phones, even electric vehicles. Under perfect conditions it would be between 65% and 75% charge. It’s not like you can’t charge the setting to 100% if you need to be on battery for a period of time where you need it. Turning it to 100% isn’t going to do much damage unless it’s like that often/all the time. The further you are from the 65%/75% in either direction the more “wear and tear” the lithium ion takes on a charge cycle. In other words you have no idea what you’re talking about yet you think you’re a genius. Next time do an ounce of googleing before you talk out your ass, because you’re a living breathing example of a Dunning-Kruger overconfident moron.

No. This is unnecessary. The battery IC will automatically optimize charging to prolong battery life. You don’t need to worry about it. Just use and enjoy your device as intended.
