I am going to be in the market for a sports car in the next 6-12 months so I went to look at Porsche!
Salesperson was nice did say getting a gt3 is near impossible but on the whole it left me wondering a few things… I was told that the current wait for a carrera is 18+ months!!
1.) I understand shortages but it seems like the product mix is out of whack when your (over?) producing on things like suvs / electric cars rather than the core stuff people want?
2.) There was a used GT3 for sale in the 280k range…
- If car availability is an issue is parts the same way if I have an issue will it take months?
4.) I’m really open to what is going to scratch the second / third car itch am I missing something I have cross shopped the Vette/zo6 - used GTR - Aston Martin - Merc SL line
Again the salesperson was nice let me drive multiple cars etc (was a bit cocky) and said there were waits on models etc … should I even try to get something here or order from a diff dealer. I’m in Jacksonville if that helps any…
You want the E-Vette and you might also consider the Lotus Emira if you can still get one before it goes electric.
don’t be afraid to go to a different dealer. Some premium dealers will even deliver the car to your door. Higher volume dealers get more allocations and could have a shorter wait
The core stuff people want is SUVs.
The models with the highest demand again in 2022 were the brand’s SUVs: the Porsche Cayenne was delivered a total of 95,604 times. The Macan followed in second place with 86,724 units delivered. With 40,410 deliveries (+5 per cent) the Porsche 911 remains very popular as well. The sports saloon Panamera was delivered to 34,142 customers (+13 per cent).
Any GT car will be challenging if not impossible to get within your purchasing timeframe but YMMV depending on what market you’re in.
Are you looking for a custom build? Are you set on wanting a gt car? Your comparison set of cars is all over the place - what is the main use case for the car - just for fun driving? Comfortable for long rides? Track time?
Comfortable for long rides, track time? Gtfoh!

The Cayenne and, even more so, Macan are basically printing money for Porsche.
So are the 718s
You’re kind of all over the place with what you’re shopping for. You will probably not be able to spec a 911 and get one in 6 to 12 months unless you pay adm to jump the list. Or someone backs out of their build and everyone ahead of you on the wait list passes on it.
Why do you need a gt3? Total overkill my dude.
