Some people can find enjoyment in many different kinds of driving, but what’s your favourite? It can be as technical as track driving, autocross, or drifting. Maybe the thrill of straight line speed is your cup of tea, or the adventure of off-roading. Even more simple things such as; going for a cruise or navigating backroads are valid.
that’s a tough question
Mountain or canyon highways/roads with high exposure, or gravel roads with lots of sweeping turns.
A spirited backroad cruise is like therapy for me. Give me a nice summer day with windows down, sunroof open, and some upbeat music and I’ll be loving life.
Trackday in the pouring rain. So much fun !
Early pandemic driving. I could drive down the highway at 4pm and do 60 the whole damn time, 90 if i wanted. Before and now, at that time, doing 20 is considered a good pace. There was no traffic i LOVED it.
2am-3am. Late spring / early summer weekend mornings. Empty highways. Windows down, blaring music optional. Usually on a bunch of pre workout going to the gym lol. Knowing every twist, turn and pot hole make for a pretty fun cruise. Finish it up with a car wash as the sun comes up… Chefs kiss
Countryside driving on narrow roads is peak, but I will admit that cruising though the night in a city is pretty nice as well.
I love driving at night, just after it’s rained and everywhere has this silky wet look to it. All the lights reflecting off everything. Just looks beautiful
Driving to work is an occasion where you can enjoy the car. Give it a little squirt here and there.
Mountain drives or the many types of tracks I always find fault with my driving. Driving to work has no judgement.
Rolling through the gears on mountain roads with lots of tight curves and elevation changes in our Abarth with the top down and/or just out for a cruise in our classic spider. Both with my wife on either a spring day when everything is blooming or a fall day when all the leaves are in full color change.
Cruising in the evening. Maybe spool up hard once or twice.
When it snows, and there is no one around, I love flicking my car into 360 circles and locking up all 4 wheels (no abs) while driving down the road. Absolutely love breaking tracking in my 1st Gen Rav4. ITs an absolute riot since its so light and nimble
Country roads with no traffic and some actual turns. I’ve found a lot of them myself. But there’s a fantastic app for my area now called “gosundaydrive”. This fella curates routes around Ontario. Highly recommend. Also on IG at the same name
low traffic, Open roof, heated seat, music 100%, nighttime, cold enough for my breath to be visibly cold, plenty of stars, low street lighting, chilling around 160km/h on the highway. (Any higher could cost me my license :( )
And then get pulled over because why tf are u roof open on a winter morning at 3AM… XD
The mx-5 nd rf is amazing for this, if it does get a little too cold u can pull the windows back up and then it heats up quite a lot again.
Cold weather, it’s night time, no traffic, highway driving, favorite music playing with the windows down… Ahhh so goood.
