I recently purchased a 2008 jetta and my dumbass forgot to turn off the lights in the car this morning when i got back to college. It’s been about 8 hours and is 25 degrees (F) out. Now the battery won’t crank when i turn the key. Should i buy a new battery or could there be another solution?

Borrow a car batter charger and see if it will charge. If not, you’ll need a new battery.

You don’t necessarily need a new battery after leaving the lights on one time. He just needs to try jumpstarting it.
