I understand that the Steam Deck is set at a 1280x800p resolution. For a screen that size, it doesn’t bother me at all as it still looks beautiful, especially at OLED. Lately, though, I’ve been wondering if I could adjust the resolution when playing on a bigger screen.
I’ve been thinking of getting Valve’s dock as I liked the idea of sharing the TV with my Switch (on a side note, it saddens me that the handheld PC, even without decky loader’s options like audio loader, has a better presentation and look with its interface than Nintendo’s current system (maybe I should make a separate post about that)). Before I get a dock, though, I decided to give it a test using a hdmi hub. When plugged in, while the screen doesn’t look bad, it doesn’t look as crisp as I want it to.
Is it possible to have my docked SD’s resolution be changed?
I don’t recall having to change the setting as an HDMI screen/projector will have its resolution, but you do want to set whatever game to the resolution you want and if you are using FSR adjust that accordingly in game.
I use it mostly docked with a projector and it’s pretty seamless.
Yes , and 1080p works well, tv upscales the image regardless so graphics look nice. I use my ps5 controller when docked. It automatically switches between the docked resolution and deck resolution once you undock it. All you need to change is the external resolution under display settings to 1080p once you plug in the deck to the dock for the first time and that’s it.
Wait you don’t have to change it to native for each game individually?
