Incredibly unlikely to do it playing in the Premier League, but at Real Madrid playing in La Liga or at Bayern Munich back in the Bundesliga, could Haaland give it a good go at breaking Messi’s ridiculous 2012 record?
Realistically he’d have to score 50+ league goals, 10-15+ UCL goals, 10-15+ National team goals and 20+ in other competitions… But if Norway were to have a good euro / world cup qualifiers and Haaland’s future club had a pretty good league, domestic cup and UCL campaign like Barca did in 2012, is it possible?
Even if you adjusted his minutes to Messi’s, he’s nowhere near when it comes to goals
Also , I’d argue that Barca’s midfield would be worse at creating chances for haaland compared to the situation he has. While Xavi and iniesta are two of the best ever, they weren’t final ball machines like kdb. Their strength lied in keeping possession and shifting the opposition team’s structure to allow Messi weak points to attack. But that still would require Messi to often pick up the ball deeper and run into those weak points. Haaland can’t do that nearly as effectively
Kdb has been the injured the majority of the time that haaland has been there. Also don’t try to downplay the rest of the team to make Messi seem more impressive. That Barcelona team is literally seen as one of the best of all time, it wasn’t just because of Messi. If haaland played every minute with a team that good he would have at least 70 a year. You also have to realize that scoring in La liga is easier for great players. Messi, Ronaldo, and Suarez were putting up over 50 a year.
lol get wrecked
