It is a fantastic vehicle with good range, decent charging, impeccable safety, built-in Android interface and Google Maps, and older models sell for similar prices to the Ioniq 5 / ID4 etc. I test drove it and it is luxuirous, comfy, and just a great and beautiful car. I don’t even see it mentioned almost ever.

I’m guessing perhaps the range, but the 2024 RWD model has around 300mi and AWD 256mi of range. Older ones around 220mi. I’m considering it above all others I’ve driven because it has better ride height and viewing angles for me as I’m tall with a very long torso.

It’s just really expensive and doesn’t have any extraordinary features that make it stand out too much.

The AC was a non starter here in Texas…went to go see it on a hot July day and holy shit the AC feels like a mouse is bowing on you waiting for the EX90

I think because in the US at least it has been fairly expensive for its capabilities, and it doesn’t qualify for the federal tax credit which adds another $7500 to the price difference for many shoppers.

I like Volvo’s designs a lot, but it’s hard to justify a $20k net difference over a decently equipped VW ID.4.

Test drove the new model in Canada. The base RWD starts at a reasonable $60k and I love the look of it but decided against it because:

    1. It’s pretty small. A good step down from the Model Y, and a bit smaller than the ID4
    2. No adaptive cruise in anything except the top trim which is a huge up charge. I consider this a basic feature in 2024, and they have the radar in the base version so it’s just a software lock. Feels like buyers are being scammed into buying the top trim for a basic thing.

Too pricey for what it is. I ordered one but 61k was too much. Also the different trim levels pissed me off. That being said, I am considering a used one.

The C40 (and Polestar 2) was on my shopping list, but the CMA platform has a tiny 2nd row seat and legroom space. The fact Volvo had to share platform with the gas powered XC40 T5 AWD shows.

I did love the way it drives, and the Polestar 2 with the perf pack even more. If only I didn’t have to drive my grandparents around as much…

I would absolutely buy one tomorrow if there were $20k less expensive. They are $83k here in Australia… which is US$54k. Thats a lot for a small SUV

Regular Car Reviews just did a review of the Volvo C40. He said its the best EV for this year. The XC40, being the same thing, Im sure would rate just as high

I was about to pull the plug on an XC40 when they announced the EX30. I like the smaller size so I put down a deposit. Have to wait until 2024 though :)

Volvo is now a Chinese company with a European backstory. Not interested in jumping in bed with a Chinese company for such a major purchase at this point.
