So I have just one in the middle top left side of the screen. Doesn’t really bother me but is that something I could get fixed if it becomes a bigger issue down the road through their warranty?
RMA or return now. You paid for it.
I think you should just return it now before the issue gets worse. It’s very easy to request an RMA when you’re within the 14 day return window.
I literally just did this the other day because I also had a dead pixel. I didn’t even have to explain why I was requesting to return mine. I submitted a support request and all I said was I wanted to return it because I wasn’t satisfied with my OLED and they sent the return shipping labels about 24 hours later.
I went ahead and ordered a new OLED and I’m hoping the new one doesn’t have issues.
return while you can. you pay that much so you deserve the best
Do it now before you spend hours customizing and setting it all up and then have to do it all over again potentially after RMA.
What is there to Set up for a normal user ? Nothing
Semantics. There’s plenty the average user can customize and change without ever altering anything beyond factory limits.
It’s easy to get caught up in the fear mongering on this subreddit, but if it doesn’t bother you, just hang onto it for now.
If you send it now, you’ll just get a replacement unit, which could also have dead pixels or a more serious issue. If the only problem with your current unit is a dead pixel that doesn’t bother you, then hang onto it for now.
If it becomes a bigger problem down the line, you’ll still be able to RMA it, and worse case, self repair options will eventually become available as well.
Fearmongering and hyperbole is rampant in this sub. Like blokes can’t understand why you don’t want to open your deck to have a Princess peach manga backplate and 2tb of a drive and some candy colored thumbsticks
It’s weird but sometimes i’ll have a dead pixel and then it will randomly just go away, how long have you noticed it?
I RMA’d 3 of the same monitor until I got a pair that had only 1 single dead pixel. It still bugs me, but it’s on my secondary screen and I can live with it. I did not do the same for my 70" TV, there were a few dead pixels and they’re not noticeable from the couch. I did consider it though.
I would personally send it back. You paid $500+ for it, you’re entitled to a non-defective product. If the second one has dead pixels, I’d probably send it back, but would be less inclined to so do on #3+ depending on where the pixel is.
If it’s a stuck pixel, you might be able to fix it with an online tool like this.
I’m still on the fence of sending it in. I’ve already moved all my files and save states on all my emulators and I really don’t wanna bother with redoing everything again lol. I feel like it’s happened to so many of us with the LE OLED that Valve should make a statement about this and either do a recall or set up a way to start replacing everyone’s damaged unit. Like others have said there’s a chance that the next unit has a similar issue.
As I asked before though couldn’t I just get this fixed in the future within the year of warranty it has?
