Long story short, I have a 2004 VW Passat 1.8t that had a tranmission cooler line failure that left me on the side of the road. I thought my transmission has seen its last day but I still decided on trying to repair it.
The original cooler line was a nightmare to repair, so I bought a 4-pass radiator for a replacement, but the company accidentally sent me a 6-pass. I didn’t have time and needed to be back at school the following weekend and, I installed it anyway.
My concern:
The good news is my car shifts great with zero slippage! However, when I checked the fluid temp on OBD2, it was way under operating temp. Google says it should hover around 175F-225F (80C-105C) but my tranmission temp caps out around 130F (60C). Is this cause for concern? Otherwise, everything else feels fantastic. I can make a little shroud and restrict some of the airflow.
