Hey all, loving my oled deck but like others I have noticed the A B X Y buttons are looser than my LCD model. They all work and don’t rattle but deffo not as satisfying to press.

I’m not about to RMA for it cos they work but does anyone know what part defines how “tight” they are? Is it the holes in the faceplate? The buttons themselves? Or the silicone membrane behind them?

Just wondering if it’s something I can “fix” at a later day if I can be bothered!

Cheers.

Same here. But it doesn’t bother me. I’m too busy playing to care lol.

I’m guessing they’re tiny bit smaller to avoid getting stuck like the early OG decks did. I’m sure, somewhere in the future, there will be replacement buttons you can get that are slightly bigger that won’t rattle.

The sheer number of reports about this would suggest that it is normal!

I contacted steam about it and they told me it was normal because of the OLED design change.

Mine rattle if shaken, & y/x is slightly looser. But my buttons still work fine.

I’m happy with my 512gb OLED. I’m used to the looser buttons now.

I have made the same observation on my steamdeck. But now I am thinking if they did this on purpose to make the buttons more durable over time, just like they did on the new 2ds xl. Or it might just be a quality control issue I am not sure but it’s definitely better than having to deal with stuck buttons or dead pixels.
