Been having this very first world problem since I first started using a Deck! Now that I’ve got the OLED Deck, it’s made it also worse because it’s ended the ‘PS5 on an OLED tv’ argument.

How do you guys decide whether to play on console or on your Deck?

For example, I would like to replay both RDR2 and Cyberpunk as I haven’t touched them since launch, and despite owning both on PS4/PS5, I am considering buying them on the Steam sale purely for the Deck so I don’t need to share the TV with the wife and kids!

Last PS5 game I played that wasn’t from my library of JP exclusive shmups was Dead Space in January.

Thing just gathers dust these days. Picked up Spiderman 2 to cash in some old trade-in vouchers and haven’t touched it. Just going to put that game on Ebay later. FFVII Remake Rebirth is on the way next year though.

PC for most games these days due to the Deck allowing me to continue progress upstairs/outside the house. PS Portal is a bad joke. Don’t like what Sony has become this gen: overpriced boutique brand that cannot get the basics right anymore.

Chiaki for the Deck is great to help with this problem. If I want a game that looks way better on PS5 and that I won’t be playing on the go very often, then I buy it for PS5 and use chiaki to stream it to my deck when I want to. Has the same visuals as PS5, streaming is flawless and it uses wayyy less battery.

I mostly just use my PS5 for exclusives like spiderman and god of war

RDR2 and cyberpunk I would never play those native on the steamdeck instead of the ps5. SD would struggle to get 40fps at low settings.

Might aswell stream from the ps5 to the deck

Just got OLED myself, first Deck purchase. I never owned a PC, haven’t had an Xbox since the 360. I think I’ve settled on playing AAA games on the PS5 (I paid way too much money for my stupid OLED TV), and the rest on the Deck.

RDR2 is the one I keep going back and forth on, since the game is still locked to 30FPS on the PS5 and it’s such a loooong game. I actually gave up on it at release after just an hour of playing because I couldn’t stand how slow the main character did everything(do I really need such a long animation to pick up a can of beans??). Trying to give it another shot… haven’t decided which system I’m more likely to enjoy it on.

Is it on Steam? If so, buy on Steam. But honestly, considering just waiting to see if it releases on Steam a year or two down the line. It’ll run better on my PC and portably on my Steam Deck if I get it on Steam. My PS5 and Switch are for exclusives.
