1: Go to Steam Desktop and open Steam.
2: Add the installer as a non-steam game to the library. In steam:

Click “Add A Game”

Click “Add A Non-Steam Game”

Pick the installer exe file.

Click “Add Selected Programs”
3: Right click on the newly added game in your library.

Go to “Properties…”
-
Click Compatibility
-
Put a check in “Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility Tool”
-
Select “Proton Experimental” (You may need to pick something else here but try this first)
-
Close the window
4: Double click on the new game in your library or click “Play”
- Go through the full install of the game.
5: After the install is complete use the file explorer.

Navigate to
/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/
-
Sort by last modified (the last folder you installed is the newest date)

Enter into the newest folder.

Go further into it:
/pfx/drive_c/
-
From there find where the exe for the you want to load want. Program Files, or wherever you chose to install it.

Copy the path to the executable.
6: Go back to steam and right click on the non-steam game you added in 2

Go to “Properties…”

Rename the Shortcut to the game Name.

Paste the full path to the exe in the “TARGET BOX” or browse for it in the path you found in 5.

MAKE SURE THE PATH TO THE EXE IS SURROUNDED BY “Quotations”

Paste the full path in the “START IN” box (do not include the executable name)

MAKE SURE THE PATH TO THE START FOLDER IS SURROUNDED BY “Quotations”
-
Close it.
7: Start the game to test it.

You may have to pick another proton (see 3).

You may have to pick another exe (see 6).

You may have to edit the registry, if so, change the “TARGET BOX” (see 6) to:
/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/<#ID_FOR_YOUR_PROGRAM>/pfx/drive_c/windows/regedit.exe
8: Get 3-4 images: Game Name Logo, Game Background, Vertical Game Image, Wide game image

Save them in the folder you found in 5:

Right click on the game in your library, go to “Properties”, select Shortcut, click the logo box (square) and add the Game Name Logo from the folder you copied them to.

In library click on the game, at the top of the right pane, right click and set custom background & custom logo.

Click on Uncategorized in your library’s left list. Right click on the new game > Manage > Set Custom Artwork > Select Vertical Game Image/Wide Game image.

Start and quit the game. Click on Library at the top of steam. Scroll down to see your recent games. Right click on it > manage > set custom artwork > select vertical/wide game image.
