I’m looking to buy a small SUV and an X1 is top of my list. I’m coming from a small 2-door BMW and looking for added space. One of the main draws is to be able to get a kayak or surfboard inside. I’m short so getting it on top of rails is probably going to be tough. The question for any of you existing owners with a moonroof is whether you think it’s feasible to collapse the back seats, lower the passenger seat as far back as it goes and to have a kayak or surfboard stick out through the moonroof at an angle. I already know the length of the board and kayak I want won’t fit entirely inside so moonroof space jutting out from the top is the only possibility.

I know how specific this might be but it’s really the main reason I’m interested in an SUV so any thoughts or experience is deeply appreciated. Thanks.
