Hello everyone, I bought a 1993 Chevy Cheyenne 2500 5.0L v8 for 1,000 bucks. Straight cash. When I bought it, I knew it had some issues with it. The truck would start and die after 2 seconds. Once the engine got hot enough it had no problem idling and sounded great. When you shifted it, it would instantly start sputtering like it wanted to die. It would run but you had to be easy on the gas pedal as hitting it to hard, would die. You had to hit the pedal nice and slow but not to fast. We sprayed the carburetor with some cleaner and put some cleaner into the gas tank. Anyway, today me and my dad changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires and the ignition coil as it looked a little burnt. I even went back to the auto store to get a diagram of the firing order for the v8. We had all the wires in the right spot. However, it’s not wanting to start now. Like not even wanting to start at all. Does anyone have any ideas as to what else we should do? Thanks
Are you sure you’re getting spark still? Did you mess with timing at all?
If it truly is carb this sounds like a bad accelerator pump.
