Getting new winters next week from Canadian Tire for my 2018 Subaru Impreza hatchback. I live in Vancouver, BC if that helps. Lots of rain/ice and intermittent periods of snow.

Currently going with the Michelin X-Ice which are $192.50 / tire (after rebate). Cost isn’t an issue, but genuinely curious if anyone has any recommendations, to make sure I get the best value (cost/ quality)

  • Motomaster winter edge II - can’t ignore the price but seems to have a bad rep because they are the store brand. I understand they are manufactured by Hankook. $143/tire
  • Bridgestone Blizzak WS-90 - $170/tire
  • Continental Wintercontact SI Plus - $172/tire

Overall all tires are within general cost range with motomaster being cheapest. There are some other cheaper options, but not even going there lol

Thanks! I read they are much softer and can wear out quicker than the Michelin’s? Although maybe not even relevant considering I drove 5000km last year… and my 2018 model only has 55,000km on it.

When money is no object we recommend the Blizzaks, they’re a great all around tire, stay very soft even at -30 or below. Most newer snow tires perform well on snow, but the blizzaks perform the best on Icey surfaces. I would stay away from the Motomasters personally. Hope this helps 👍
