I’ve got an 03 Ford Focus with some pretty nasty tires- Dry rot and ready to pop is what the mechanic said to me. So I’m getting some new tires today, from Walmart as I live up north and can’t find anyone else near me who has them in my state.
(and my car can’t make the trip downstate as I also have hoses that are rotting and “can burst whenever”, according to the mechanic.)
My tires say 195/60R15 on them. The Walmart employees tried to sell me on a road hazard warranty. So, my question is simply for those of you with car experience and knowledge (I have none.)
Is the road hazard warranty worth it?
I’m buying some Goodyear Reliant all seasons for my focus. It’s an extra like $40 for me and money is tight as it is, I didn’t know it was an option until I called for an estimated total and they told me just now, hours before my appointment.
TLDR; I’ve got an old focus and I live in northern Michigan where it gets heavier snow. I can only find my tires at Walmart and they’re wanting to sell me the Road hazard warranty. I have no experience in cars and money is tight, this car also has other problems I need to fix too. I don’t go off reading or anywhere crazy in my car, just work and home. Is this road hazard warranty worth it or should I save my money?
It would be $40 as it’s $10 per tire.
On tires that are $40 each, you’d need to replace 2 before you get your worth out of it. Especially when they pro rate the price.
So in your situation I doubt it’d be worth it.
