Legendary man, my username was inspired by him
RIP. He managed Barcelona as well as many other clubs as well as England in his career. He secured crystal palace as a first division club (he did kinda get them relegated the first time around though) twice over 2 stints.
Australia too, will always be remembered fondly down here. We had a good team beaten by 5 minutes of madness. RIP.
RIP euro 96 was the first tournament I can remember watching and being proud of the team.
Thank you for England 4-1 Netherlands, and letting us believe, sir. Magic summer.
Sheringham’s dummied-layoff to Shearer to leather it top-bins was magical.

The BBC Sport news article included highlights of that match. I just watched it and got so much nostalgia. What a tournament we were lucky to have him as a manager.
I was born at the end of 85 so don’t really recall Sir Bobbys England. But Terry gave me the most magical summer of my childhood, it was an absolute dream. There’s a certain age group of kids who will never forget that time period.
Great manager, but I think the revelations about his finacial affairs were the first time I had ever realised some of the “dark practices” taking place in football.
Mihir Bose alledged that some huge percentage of the wages that Crystal Palace were paying their players, actually went straight to a Venables owned company. After he left as England manager, and became involved in Portsmouth , similar concerns were raised about half a dozen Australian players who joined the club, but never got anywhere near the first team.
He was disqualified from being a director in England because of the dodgy shit he did at Spurs. He was a fraud, a con man, a terrible manager.
RIP
True character and legend of the sport, RIP
I hated his opinions, I hated his punditry. But he was a lovely guy and gone far too soon. Very sad.
I don’t recall him being controversial or a bad pundit, what opinions did you hate? He always seemed quite genuine to me.
I always felt he was pretty biased towards a couple of clubs. That said, just because I disagreed with him I didn’t respect him less. I’m sometimes biased to my own club.
He was a great guy that worked hard for his country.
Yeah I always liked him, apart from murdering Elvis’s If I can dream lol he was a good lad.
Always seemed really sound. Rest in peace, Terry!
Much respect! RIP!
