My brother recently bought the SteamDeck for me after me obsessively using his computer for gaming. I heard that the SteamDeck is not a gaming console, but instead a whole handheld computer? It confuses me because it looks exactly like the PSP and Nintendo Switch. Can anyone who owns a SteamDeck (presumably all of you) give me a little insight?

It is a computer that runs the Linux operating system. (Similar to windows if that helps) However, the outer build Makes it look like a gaming console. imagine a whole laptop or an entire computer with this as the controls. That’s literally what it is!😎

You can boot to a Linux desktop through the power off settings. The deck holds 2 options a cutdown controller friendly version of the OS and a full desktop experience. Technically if you want you can purchase a SD card and flash it or a new SSD and also flash it with windows if you choose. You can plug just about anything into it if there are drivers available. It is essentially a smaller form factor of a laptop.
