Not my car, it belongs to my employer But when trying to pass a semi, the check engine light came on flashing, and the vsc light came in steady, and now it struggles to accelerate. Seems like there is a failsafe with the PCM that forbids it shifting into one of the upper gears I think? Any ideas?

Flashing check engine light due to misfire bad enough to damage catalytic converter. Toyotas also set abs/ traction control light …on …disabling traction / abs control .
Usually will not go into " limp "mode .
I suspect low power is due to 100%misfire .
