I have a 2003 mitsubishi montero sport es 4wd with the 3.0. that has sat for roughly a year. Last month I fixed the issue it had to make it roadworthy then I flew back to California where I live. In a few months I’m going to fly back to Missouri and drive it here to Los Angeles. Background: I rebuilt the engine in 2018 and it has been reliable since and used by my dad while I was gone. It has 1.5 year old tires that have only about 1000miles on it as well so that isn’t a worry. Question: What all things besides the normal fluid changes should I look at and take care of before the trip? I will be picking up a friend in omaha to move in mith me and going through Colorado in during their snow season.

If the car sits for a long time id worry about flat spots in the tires and sticking brakes. Other than that, get the car hot before taking the trip to make sure everything is good and change the oil after that.

If it had any gas in the tank, it could be jelly by now. Drain and refill if you can, and maybe check air filter for rodents or debris.
