I was struggling with trying to find OEM parking brake cable for my Civic. My rear wheel would lock up in the winter time because of the tear in the boot. Since I drive manual transmission, I use my ebrake all the time due to previous experiences with manual transmission.
Lucky I was able to source a replacement from another Civic from the bone yard. Honda has these on backorder with no date. The one from the bone yard was in pristine condition and didn’t look like the ebrake was even used.
Has anyone have any success replacing the boots only? I would assume you would need one that can withstand the harsh winters etc.
I want to keep this. Clean it up and replace the boot and keep it as a spare. I had my car almost 10 years and I want to keep it for as long as I can.
I would clean the rust, dirt, remove the water and then apply an external boot over the existing boot + use steel hose clamps on both ends (you have a nice spot to attach these clamps - a nut and/or a neck behind). You basically want to keep water away from the naked cable, so any solution should work.
