I recently received my Steam Deck OLED, and when I plug in earphones, a constant static humming/crackle is present. I have never encountered this interference when using my LCD deck with the same earphones. In addition, the noise seems to interfere with any sound elements on the homepage, making them sound choppy. It is even noticeable throughout gameplay and in desktop mode. I should note that this only happens when I have the earphones plugged in. I have tried resetting the device, updating any firmware, using different earphones, and adjusting the volume levels, but the problem remains.

I have seen some mentions of bugs/hardware defects and am wondering if this is the case. All other components seem to be in proper condition, and I would hate to return/RMA it just for the same thing to occur with another deck. I did read some older posts from people claiming to have the same issue with LCD decks, but few concerning the OLED. I was just hoping for some insight as to whether this issue could be the result of a hardware defect or a software bug. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yea we need to get on their ass about it. It’s crazy that such an expensive piece of kit is ruined by a $1 component.
