There were some people predicting that Luton might finish the season with the lowest ever points total, and without any wins all season. Well, right now they are sitting outside of the relegation zone (thanks to Everton’s points deduction) and have 9 points. They’ve bagged their second win of the season and the first in front of their home fans. All they need is 3 more points all season to beat Derby’s record.

I decided to watch today’s game and it was certainly an entertaining one. Really pleased to see them get a result and their young English manager doing a great job. It’s gotta be especially sweeter for both Edwards and for Luton, considering that hated rivals Watford sacked him early last season (after just 11 games) and he is now doing a good job in the league above Watford having gotten Luton promoted!

I think they’ll still go down but a Huddersfield style absolute shit house 36 point survival isn’t impossible

Garth Crooks is a twat. His column has always been ridiculous, but his criticisms of Luton were just imbecilic and displayed a complete ignorance of how football teams should be responsibly run, and of Luton’s specific history. The fact Luton have brought in some really good players for next to nothing should be applauded. His criticism of their financial prudence has been made all the more laughable following Everton’s points deduction.

I don’t mind him having us tipped for relegation, in a weird fucked up way I can even maybe excuse the “can’t take them seriously” comments. He’s just saying what the mainstream have been subtly implying for a while now. At least he had the balls to say it.

But the thing that got me was what he said about the stadium, about how we did the “bare minimum”, which was such a braindead and insulting thing to say that I’m surprised an editor or someone didn’t pull him up on it. Work trucks were in the day we won promotion and they were working nearly 24/7 to get it up to the Prem’s specs. That was an absolute herculean effort on the part of the club and the entire town that it’s an absolute wonder that he follows the world of football at all.
