Looking for good brand suggestions for brakes and rotors for a 2012 Subaru outback that does a fair bit of towing. OR if anyone knows of any online forums where robust discussion about brakes and rotors takes place so I can get into research.
Many thanks in advance!
Pretty much any daily driver grade on rockauto is made for what you asked.
I’d worry more about the transmission if the brakes are currently in good shape.
Nah the brakes pads need replacing regardless as they’re nearing end of life, and the car has developed that slight shudder in the pedal and wheel when lightly braking.
Some DBA T2 slotted rotors and Bendix heavy duty or any other quality brand pad will be good.
Yeah that’s the problem- trying to work out what’s a quality brand. I’m assuming supercheap auto own branded stuff is rubbish. Repco’s stuff I’m more up in the air about. And I think my only other choice locally in terms of shops is Autobarn (or purchasing online from interstate)
DBA (Disc Brakes Australia) and Bendix are fairly reputable brands, I believe.
I am also in the market for new rotors and pads, mine are on the verge of squealing when I brake with a decent force.
Probably gonna go dba and bendix myself, but am window shopping currently.
I’d be interested to know what you settle on when you’ve made a decision.
I am not a heavy braker during regular driving but often tow an unbraked trailer (and last week my subie towed a car). God help us all if I put shit ones on
Will update in the next couple days. My brakes are fried.
