First of all, this isn’t Fifa, EA FC or FM. Releasing a player on massive wages because you don’t like him spinning is moronic. Breaking contract would mean a massive payout for that player. No, instead policies need to be put in place to make sure that the club don’t throw money at players that frankly don’t fit the team and are far from good enough.
Current players that aren’t good enough needs to be put up for sale or let their loan/contract run out. Examples are as follows: Harry Maguire, Johnny Evans, Reguilon, Donny, Antony and Sancho. The jury for me is still out on the likes of Martial, Amrabat, Casemiro, Scott and Onana. Cas and Martial I believe are starting to degrade, Amrabat and Scott could be good squad players and Onana could still grow into the player we saw last season in the Champions league.
I won’t way in on ownership except that the Glazers need to go. Important thing now is that there will be new sporting management under Sir Jim. This means more qualified people will be in charge, making better and more well educated signings a more plausible future for United.
We need to be better at developing young players, be that Højlund who is getting little to no service, the breakouts Kobbie and Alejandro or the other youngsters like Isak, Omari, Daniel, Diallo, Pellistr, Shoratire and many more. Erik ten Haag has done an ok job in that department.
Lastly better signings or rather, smarter signings. I don’t want the club to become Brighton or Brentford, but actually putting some more research into potential players instead of looking at FM and saying: “Let’s go for the most prolific and most expensive young guy we can find”. Højlund was a good start, a little overpriced, but still a good deal. If we now could find a good cdm in anticipation of Casemiro’s degradation, a winger or two that doesn’t spend their off time abusing their spouses, one more strikers as Rashford isn’t a number nine and some damn centerbacks as I’m tired of getting anxious every time Licha or Varane holds their leg. Simakan, Scalvini, Todibo or someone like that. I like Evans and I appreciated Harry has really stepped up, but they can’t play a high line to save their lives.
I love this club, but god damn does it drive me insane every other week.
