researching for a black friday deal i came across 2 videos from the YT channel ChargerLab showing the charger compatibility of the s23+/U.
what i know for a fact that i needed a PPS capable charger as per samsungs own spec:
3.3-11V @ 2.25A for Super Fast Charging 25W
3.3-11V @ 4.05A for Super Fast Charging 2.0 45W
lo and behold; they showed Apple chargers and the usb c port on a Tesla, that are strictly non-PPS , charging an S23+ at a measured 24-25W, higher than samsungs own 25W TA800 charger which measured ~21W! those Non-PPS chargers were at PD 3.0 FIXED 9V 3A 27W, confirming the phone did not negotiate PPS.
they also showed in the same videos an s22+ charging at 11-14w on that same Fixed PD 3.0 9V 3A profile…
it would be very cool if any, “non-pps” 9v 3a pd charger or battery bank, could “super fast charge” at 25w instead of falling back to <15w.
(p.s.: they also showed some 3rd party chargers actually charging at 43-46W, with samsungs own 45w chargers at ~36w. only difference is that the 3rd party ones supported PPS at 4.5 or 5A (45-50w) whereas samsungs own maxed out at 4.05A (40.5w)…they claim its another minor upgrade in the s23.)
I do have that; but my point above is that it looks like with the s23, they allowed even basic PD 3.0 chargers to “super fast” at 25w.
PD 3.0 PPS yes, not just PD 3.0.
that’s my point. s23+/u super fast charging works with just PD 3.0.
