how do yous feel about Rice 6 v Rice 8 today
I just think 6 is a way way better fit for him and there’s potential in Trossard 8(or a new singing if need be)
Rice 6 for sure. I remember Billy carpenter saying you want rice to be in the opponents face as much as possible. Don’t let them avoid him when progressing. He can do that best from the centre.
Also he seems to be very good at defending on the line. Yes his carrying is good and he has a nice shot, but I’m willing to sacrifice that a bit.
We just need a pass heavy midfielder to partner him and help with second phase progression
That’s the position he should be playing long term but circumstances requiring him at #8 are not necessarily bad in the short term.
Partey / Rice worked well when we saw it. If Rice can break lines like Thomas then we are truly set
There is potential with Trossard 8 but today was not the game that moved the needle positively. Needs to be at the Emirates and not against a giant team. We didn’t look settled at all and Trossard was getting pickpocketed a lot imo. Felt like he joined the static attacking line more instead of dropping deep to pick up the ball
We need an 8 regardless. Playing 8 ahead of Jorginho we haven’t seen his potential there.
