Friend went sideways and messed up the rear driver’s side wheel. Is the bent arm called the trailing arm? Besides an alignment and new tire (maybe wheel) what else could need to be fixed?

Yes that’s trailing arm. But front control arm is bent a lot worse. You should also inspect other parts like rear control arm, strut, etc.
