Hey everyone,
Inspired by u/markercore and their great threads over in the switch Reddit, I figured I’d try to get some fun game focused conversation going over here! So, what are you playing this weekend? Personally I picked up a ton during the sale for my OLED, and I’m really diving into Dying Light for the first time, which is extremely fun. Also hoping to check out Sonic Frontiers and a few other odds and ends.
How about you all? Pickup anything exciting during the sale? Going onto hour 500 of Vampire Survivors? Lemme know!
“Setting up my first Steam Deck” is what I am playing. Which includes trying out many different games without a clear focus.
Going to play through my collection of Final Fantasy games starting from the 1st Final Fantasy 1 Pixel Remaster through to Final Fantasy 13 Lightning Returns.
halfway through Final Fantasy 1 Pixel Remaster now.
I’m playing Refresh the order page: Episode Two
Nothing. My steam deck just arrived today, but I have slow internet so I’ll be spending most of the weekend downloading.
Wrapping up Dishonored 2, after crushing through the first one plus all DLC’s I was wary how this would hold up, and it’s been amazing.
While I’m enjoying it immensely, I’m a bit giddy to finish so I can co-run CP2077 and Street Fighter 6 on the new OLED coming next week…
Baldurs gate 3. After giving up on waiting for sale, I finally got it and now I can’t stop playing
Nice one. For me it’s “The Nothing” because my Deck has been stuck in the Netherlands warehouse for days now.
How well does it run on SD? Like in terms of frame rate, graphics, etc?
Surprisingly well. I had a few crashes at the start but after restarting, I could set every preset to quality and still got roughly between 20-40 fps, so average 30. I would reccomend making space on the ssd to play bg3 as the micro SD card will make it noticeably slower, even a good one.
Good to know, thank you so much! Much appreciated.
How well do the controls work for BG3 on the Deck?
It is a way different experience. You have to relearn how to play when using controller. For example you no longer click the spot, you just move around freely. You also have a little less precision when placing attacks like spells at specific spots but if you have a PS5 controller (I play docked), the TouchPad help a lot with this issue. In general it takes a little longer to do things but it isn’t a game breaker, just takes more time to learn it. The graphics are what shocked me. Coming from a 3070 to the steam deck was like being flung unto a play station 3. But you get used to that as well
Project zomboid! Finally have started get get a hang of it and got some mods going on.
Plus Dave the diver 10/10
Started playing ER again and giving it a second chance. I really enjoyed CrossCode demo so I might start that too since it’s like $8
As in Elden Ring?
Yup. It didn’t really stick with me the first time so I left if after 20-ish hours. I am now playing it more as a open-world exploring game rather than trying to just go for the next boss as in a Dark Souls game and am enjoying it more. Will probably take a gazilion hours to finish it this way tho.
Nice! I checked it out once on release on a deck, preferred the 60fps but I bet with some tinkering I’d love it.
Probably going to keep playing hardcore wow. I random my race and class every death to keep things interesting but I have a really good feeling about my tauren hunter I have going right now.
The Talos Principle.
But if that for some reason fails (i finish it before the end) I loaded the deck with
Celeste, Hades, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man Remastered, Ori and the blind forest, Oxygen Not Included, Sekiro Shadows die twice, Slay the Spire, Jedi fallen order, Terraria
Ahead of my flight so I’m covered on nearly every genre i like to play.
If anyone hasn’t played it and needs a recommendation I’d say inscryption. Especially amazing on deck
Been jumping back and forth a lot! My OLED came a couple of days ago. Here’s a top 5:
- Doom 2016 has been a blast - Gorgeous on the deck.
- 20 mins til Dawn is a great Vampire Survivors clone.
- Disney Speedstorm with friends has been terrific.
- Desk Job had me craving Portal, so I re-downloaded that for the eleventeenth time. That game still rules.
- This old PSP game called Purumin??? If anyone’s played it or knows what I’m talking about, we’re best friends now. I don’t make the rules
Any recs for a good arcade racer? Speedstorm is fun, if a bit simplistic. But I don’t love racing sims.
Horizon Chase Turbo and the first Hot Wheels Unleashed are both super cheap right now. I’m really enjoying both of those.
Started Bear & Breakfast this week and really digging it.
Star Ocean Second Story Remake. This shit is like crack for my Jrpg loving brain. The QoL additions and the new 2dhd art style just absolutely icing on the cake
Played on switch specifically for the OLED screen. You gotta talk me down from buying again now that I got my SD OLED and can run it at 60fps…
Half-life 1. After the 25th anniversary update, I’m having some serious nostalgia and want to replay it and so of the mods from back in the day.
I’m 2 years older than the game and never played it. Maybe it’s time to check it out…
I played it a ton when I was 12-17, I think it came out when I was 10 or so. But I loved messing around in it and playing The Specialists mod with friends. That was my first game on Steam and it will always have a special place in my memory and heart.
