The Asus TRX50 board seems to be focused on extreme overclocking - the VRM is massive overkill for the base 350W TDP. The Gigabyte or ASROCK boards may make more sense for a non-overclocked workstation. The Supermicro TRX50 board looks like it is more server oriented.
The cpu got released before the boards? Damn
And only four boards so far. What’s actually stranger to me is that no WRX90 boards are known just yet. Everyone knew TR Pro was coming out, but nobody knew if TR was going to be a thing anymore. Yet the TRX50 boards are coming out first (first one available seems to be the ASRock on 11/30).
It would probably have been better for AMD to push the release back a few weeks, so that boards, processors, and decent RAM were all readily available.
Asrock boards was the same day and sold out the same day.
Eye watering
Wow. I remember blowing ~$1200 to get a Pentium Pro 150 with mobo back in the day. But a $900 mobo these days has me crying poor.
