Title.

I am totally not trying to cope with having the non OLED version but please do convince me that not buying it was the better decision

    Reminder to everyone saying “price.”

As they sell out, this will be less and less true. Sure the bottom tier will continue to be LCD (for a while, maybe?) But you’re getting less per dollar.

The only advantage of the LCD model is the price. This isn’t some mid gen refresh where teardowns have shown a bunch of cost cutting measures that compromise the device. It’s upgrades across the board aside from MSRP.

The price is the only thing if you’re looking for bang for buck.

Otherwise, the OLED is better in every way.

I heard the D-Pad should be better. If you‘re playing things like SF then this might matter. For most of us, it doesn’t.

if we’re just talking on raw performance, oled is a little bit better. you can still enjoy most games on lcd. and being the cheapest its still the budget king. price per enjoyment value is unbeatable.

No, the new version is better all round except we’ve had a good lot of use playing with our version and enjoying it. And mine still does what I need it to

And after all, if the likes of us hadn’t made it a success there wouldn’t even be an OLED version

    There are some huge advantages:

    Lower quality screen

    Battery has lower capacity

These two things together are instrumental in avoiding video game addiction.

    -CNN, probably

Sorry dude. You’re not getting out of this one. But honestly, i have both and its all about money. If you can afford it, do it. If not…the 3.5 5 update is more than enough to be happy about.

Availability if you live in “not available in your country”. There are a lot of resellers who already can sell you LCD Deck in every country possible. But OLED? It’s available only where Valve sells them.

    Three advantages:

    1. The screen cant burn in, yes its unlikely the oled will noticably burn in with regular use in its lifetime, but its still nice to know you can blast full brightness 24/7 without worrying in the slightest

    2. If the screen breaks for any reason, from dropping or whatever, a lcd replacement will be way cheaper.

    3. Modding is easier for the moment because its more widespread. While the outside is the same internals are way different, so some mods of the lcd deck dont work on oled without altering them.
