Hi,
I’m very new to NAS’ and would like tome reassurance that what i want to buy will do and is all compatible.
At the moment i have an intel NUC that runs windows, Emby, Sonarr, Radarr and Jackett. My media is on 2 external WD 4TB HDD’s. I would like all of this to run on the NAS.
I want to have some sort of redundancy for my media, i’ve had a HDD crash before and didn’t have a backup and it s*cked big time. I know that a RAID system is no replacement for a real backup but for me this will do i think.
Now what i would like to buy (i have a budget of about $900,incl the HDD’s):
Terramaster F2-423
2x Seagate Ironwolf NAS drive 12TB
2x Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN550
1x NEMIX RAM Compatible Memory A-SRAMD4-16G 16GB SODIMM it says it’s compatible with the Terramaster and i was told i can have a the original 4GB stick and add this one to make a total of 20GB ram
2 main questions
-
will this system be good enough for what i want to do with it
-
are the items i selected compatible.
I looked on the Terramaster compatibility list
The seagate drive i selected is on there, but with a slightly different Model number. The compatibility list has model number ST12000VN0008, but on Amazon i can only find model number ST12000VNZ008. Terramaster will not confirm/deny this HDD will work
The WD SSD’s i selected are also on the list, but only the 1TB version, i want the 500GB versions
Would my HDD’s and SSD’s work in the Terramaster or should i be looking for something else?
Terramaster helpdesk wasn’t very helpful
Synology. And do not buy a 2-drive slot model. Go with either four or five drive capacity. You will be wanting to upgrade within the next four to six years.

Then purchase on Amazon.
