Pretty excited but worried at the same time. I thought it would be rather simple to connect it with Game Pass and maybe Geforce Now but it looks like all these steps. And to upgrade the drive requires surgery and tools from ifixit. Vs the How to Videos etc, how hard is it to actually install these things? I’m mainly planning yo use it for remote play to save on battery.

Replacing the SSD (actually eMMC on the 64GB model) is super easy. If you can change a battery you should be able to do it. I bought the 64GB model over a year ago and swapped in a 1TB SSD before I even used it. It’s the most economical option, especially with the LCD models now discounted. A great gift, and you will not need to fiddle with it much. Steam Deck is intentionally meant to give PC gamers the “just click play and it runs” feeling of a console.
