Hoping someone can help with this. I have Chiaki4Deck set up on my Steam Deck OLED and when it works, it works great. My PS5 is registered, connection is solid, etc.
However my Chiaki4Deck/my PS5 have chunks of the time where the PS5 is ‘available’ (e.g. shows up in the chiaki4deck app when I launch it’, and chunks of time where the PS5 doesn’t show up as available in the app at all (the app is just blank in terms of possible PS5s to connect to). No amount of resetting the Deck or PS5 changes this; I have no idea why this is happening. Both devices have a static IP address set in my router, too. Yesterday I did some testing and:
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - PS5 wasn’t showing up in app
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: PS5 was showing up in app
4:00 PM - 7:00 PM: PS5 wasn’t showing up in app
8:00 PM - 12:00 AM: PS5 was showing up in app
This morning 7:30 AM to now (8:30 AM): PS5 not showing up in app
As per above there seems to be ‘good’ chunks of time and ‘bad’ chunks of time. It never flickers minute to minute or anything like that. Any ideas what might be causing it?
Do you have multiple WiFi connections? I had a guest network and private network WiFi and had both setup on my deck and sometimes it would switch to the guest WiFi. Well, devices connected via Ethernet can’t be accessed via the guest network so when this happened my deck couldn’t find my ps5. Maybe this is what’s happening to you?
Thanks for the input! I don’t think this is it as I specifically have all my devices set to connect to a specific 5Ghz band, and don’t have the other bands/guest wifi saved in their connections.
Also it could be that your Steam deck isn’t connecting to the wifi router sometimes so doesn’t see the connection.
