Hi guys. iPhone user since 2009. They have Galaxy S23 Plus on discount for Black Friday for only 699 euros here in Italy.

Does it make sense to ditch iPhone for Galaxy? Or will I get a bad deal?

The thing that is bothering me about iPhone is the prices. If you want an iPhone with a large and smooth screen, you’re forced to buy iPhone 15 Pro Max at 1399 euros.

That is DOUBLE the price of the Galaxy.

There is iPhone 15 Plus for 999 but it has a 60 Hz screen, which I hate. And it would still be a leap from 699 to 999, not a little.

Who among you has switched from iOS to Android? Good or bad idea? What will I miss? And what will I love? Thanks!

Hii, glad that you are open to a change.

At this point in time, Android (specially Galaxy) and iPhones both are excellent and Samsung has really worked on its flaws. But, if you do go ahead with the Galaxy, remember that it is a new OS for you and so don’t get frustrated & think it is subpar if things are different to you are used to. However, learning Android is much more easier coming from iPhone than it is vice versa.

Things you will fall in love when using an Android -

    1. The universal back gestures. Apple brought gestures (if I remember correctly) but Android has perfected it. Just this makes using iPhone a decade old experience. No need to stretch your fingers all the way to top left corner just to go back.

    2. Unlike Apple, there are always multiple ways to do even simple things. For example - for bring the notification panel you can slide from top of screen (like Apple) but also just swipe down anywhere on the homescreen.

    3. Tonnes of customisation options. I am not even talking about very advanced things but even little things throughout the UI.

Now there are a tonne of other things that I can list out. The S23 plus is as snappy as phones get and for the price - unbeatable! Yes the iPhone 15 pro Max will have better camera but s23 plus will also be excellent (we are talking about a flagship device) and you are not going to be comparing both side by side. But the additional convenience and intuitive UI you will enjoy everytime you use the phone.

The only thing you should consider is if you are deep into the Apple ecosystem. Apple watch won’t work but you can still use airpods with Android phones just like any other TWS earbud. And Samsung’s ecosystem is almost at par with Apple now.
