When the engine is idling (2.4L Camry) and I press the accelerator, the engine chokes for a second (RPM drops, feels like it will die) and then it picks up and continues as normal.
If I press the accelerator slowly there is no problem. The harder I press, the more the more obvious the problem is.
Any ideas?
Throttle position sensor or possibly the mass air flow sensor (or air leak downstream thereof effectively sucking in unmeteted air)
Tps can be tested using a multimeter. There could be a worn spot where it’s not reading in coordination with the actual position of the throttle.
Those would be my first 2ish things to look for.
Anyone not going to ask the obvious question of general maintenance??? Air filter, spark plugs? Fuel filter if it has an external???
New spark plugs and air filter, but fuel filter hasn’t been changed in a while
Do you have a check engine light?
Nope
