Is there a way to have a steam deck use the Nintendo button layout as opposed to the XBOX? I’ve played Nintendo consoles all my life. I know that there’s an option for Nintendo buttons, but it doesn’t change the physical layout. I’ve looked online and I couldn’t find any button decals and I’d rather not swap out the buttons. Could I put nail polish or something on the buttons to hide the layout? What are your guys’ suggestions?

Do you have to look at the buttons on your switch to work out which one to press? Or do you just know that A is on the right? If you don’t have to look what the buttons say on them is not important, just let your Nintendo muscle memory kick in.

Look at it like an opportunity to learn a new language. Once your brain learns a new layout, you can go back and forth a lot more easily. I can’t tell you the last time I ever looked down at a button before pressing it though, so you might benefit from a bit of memorization rather than doing something permanent to the Deck.
