I’m going to buck the trend and say G20 M340i, for these reasons:
The B58 engine in the M340i is FAR more reliable than the last-gen S55 in the M3
The ZF8 transmission is also significantly more reliable, as well as way more comfortable than the snappy dual clutch in the M3. But can still bang out gears lightning quick when you want it to
30+ mpg combined on the G20 vs 20mpg combined on the F80
Far better interior and tech in the G20 that will keep its fresh, modern feeling much longer than in the F80
You already have an F-gen 3 series, so the G20 will give you that fresh new car feeling while the F80 will just be like your current car, except much better performance-wise obviously
You pretty much nailed the hammer on the head for everything I was thinking. It’s pretty damn close when comparing the pros and cons of each which is why I think it’s harder than people think when matched up against each other. If it was as simple as a f30 vs f80, or f80 vs g80 it’s easier to pin point. F30 -> f80 or g20 is pretty hard.
Yeah I think it just comes down to your priorities. Do you care more about have an easy-to-live-with but still very fast daily driver that’s more reliable, efficient, and comfortable? Or do you care about performance and driving dynamics over all else?
