There have been some news stories and posts lately about E-bikes and E-scooters which has me wondering some things.

I have heard that models like the Ola S1 Pro in India are quite popular.

I am not sure what the most popular model would be in China?

When you travel you realize E-bikes and E-scooters in particular are very very common place in Asia and some other market places. Usually market places with extreme populations which makes sense.

Is there a certain brand that is known in Europe and more so North America that is the go-to model?

I wouldn’t mind looking into this as an option!

Any positive/negative things someone should know about these options?

It seems like a really affordable way to get around if it suits your needs.

We’ve replaced a lot of EV trips with ebike trips. The kids love it. So do I.

The research alone is pretty overwhelming on the benefits for kids. /r/cargobike life but this sub throws a conniption fit if you suggest a 20lb toddler doesn’t need a 6000lb suv

There must be some backers to push those articles out, no questions about it. I think the problem in the West for motorcycle market esp in North America is that it’s an an aging market. In Asia those bikes are used for commuting while bike riders in the West usually ride them because they are cool.

Bikes and motorcycles get a lot of use in Europe. Less in the winters, of course, but there’s always plenty of them about. And for sure riders are using them to go to/from work, small grocery runs, etc. I’d guess that some folks would be able to replace at least some car trips with e-bike/e-motorcycle trips, especially if the latter had removable batteries so that it was possible to charge the battery in your flat.

There’s a bunch of good brands that I see around me. The big 2 in my area are Aventon and Lectric, I have a Lectric xp 3.0 and absolutely love it. So much that we got my wife an xp lite that she also loves. We live in a very car heavy area where I’d only be comfortable riding on sidewalks and in parks/greenways so not many car trips are replaced with bike trips but I’ve been able to put a few hundred miles on it pretty quick. Plus they both fold and fit in the back of my Mach-e
