Hi all, so I’ve taken my 2007 Ford Taurus SE (3.0L V6) to two different mechanics and both seemed to have missed this small coolant leak. You can see it pooling up on top of the transmission. Missing it seems possible, given how small it is (coolant res. is still full). But I’ve had some significant work done on this car (new rad., hoses, thermostat, valve cover gaskets, intake gasket, crank seal gasket and it’s just odd that nobody caught it. Anyway, I’m just wondering how critical this is and how much it would cost to repair? Could I do this myself or do I risk cracking the metal?

That looks to be your thermostat housing, so they didn’t clean the mating surfaces or they reused the old gasket and it didn’t agree. If you’re at all handy this is very DIYable, just gotta bleed the air out after.
