We all know the age of EV’s are coming, we already have numerous EV’s that can do the 1/4 mile in an insane 8.6-9.3 seconds, but there are so many more coming within the next 3 years. Even Corvette is working on an electric model for 2026 which is reportedly going to have well over 1000hp.

I know people like to talk about track times, but even a regular Corvette Z06 was only 0.6 seconds behind a 992 GT3 RS on the Hagerty race track. Just imagine what the electric one is going to do.

Porsche has made it clear that they’re continuing with gas models and that the 911 won’t be electrified until 2030, am I the only one worried for their future?

The fly in the honey is that this country doesn’t have anywhere close to the capacity to produce enough electricity to power an entire nation of EVs. So it’s not happening until there is some kind of leap forward in technology to recharge evs. We drive Porsche not just for track speed but bc of the way the car feels and handles. Haven’t driven an EV that drives like my cayenne turbo and I’ve driven them all.

Don’t worry about the mfgs, who will continue to make what customers want, worry about the government outlawing ICE cars for some bogus climate agenda and revoking your ability to use it on the road. If that happens there will be a lot of expensive, useless paperweight out there….

EVs are lame. Neutered. Great cars for non car people. I don’t see why they have to make LAWS about these things.

EV demand has gone down and I think will continue to decline in the future. There is a market for them, but it’s not like everyone is going out there and shopping for one for their next vehicle. I know I am not and am not interested. If I was, I’m sure my first choice would most likely be Tesla as they are furthest ahead in this tech. I don’t think Porsche are pushing hard to go mostly electric as they are listening to consumer demand on their product.

Is there demand for automatic watches despite quartz/smartwatches being superior technology? It’s the same thing here. Porsche makes art.

Are horses obsolete? ICE cars will go the way horses did. Luxury items. That being said, the collapse of society and the earth are near so this is all irrelevant about who will have cool cars in 20 years.

Electric cars are trash end of story

Electric one will run out of battery and overheat before hitting the finish line

Technically obsolete? Certainly. Perhaps it’s arguable that they already are in some ways.

But, so is my Rolex, and has been so for many years now. Yet, it’s still very desirable and worth far more today than I paid for it.

I guess there are tangible and intangible factors that make something have appeal, beyond their technological status. Great things just appeal…Not to mention that the rarer great things are, the more they tend to appreciate in price…

driving isn’t about 1/4 mile or 0-60. not even fully about circuit times. or else we’d all be driving the same cars.

I came here to say that 0.6 seconds is actually quite a bit faster when you’re talking about a lap of a racing circuit.

Saw a video about the new electric Macan. The Porsche engineers said, and the tester confirmed, that Porsche attaches great importance to ensuring that the electric Porsches also drive like a Porsche. The quality of a car is not only defined by its acceleration. So I wouldn’t worry about Porsche.

I think EVs are fine, but they’re oversaturated for a reason right now, both due to cost and tech.

The tech still has a way to go before wider adoption, and there are other energy methods which may be better in the long-run.
