I found a round brown filter in my driveway when I drove back home after running errands.
Is there any chance this thing fell off my car?
I have a mechanic appointment booked next week for regular service and wonder if I’m safe just driving around until then.
Nah, that’s a shop vac filter.
There’s no way that’s from a crv
Thanks. I’m extremely relieved bits of my car aren’t falling off while I’m driving! Learned a lot today. Much appreciation to this sub.
Free trash can!
Shop vac.
Thank you!
The most fucked up shop vac filter I’ve ever seen God DAMN
It’s not even a car filter. Definitely not from your HRV. Somebody might have thrown a vacuum cleaner filter nearby.
Look at the owners manual and see if your air box is good they don’t just jump out . But like a lot of people said it looks so big it’s probably from a shop vacuum.
Smh
Minimal chance that’s your one, looks like what a shop vac has, though that style also sees use in heavy machinery
Yes. It is totally possible it fell from your car…if you ran over a shop vac
Cold air intake filter
OP, it looks like you’ve got your answer (wet/dry vacuum filter). But I just want you to know, it’s unlikely (essentially impossible) for a filter to “fall off of a car”. The car’s engine filter is encased in a plastic enclosure that would have to be taken apart. This filter is in the engine bay. It also is flat, not round like this (normally).
The only other air filter is the cabin filter. It’s even more difficult to get to and is inside the car (usually behind the glove box). It’s also flat, not round.
Thanks so much! If I ever find myself in the situation of discovering another mystery filter under my car, I won’t immediately panic that the car is falling apart.
Open your hood and check if you were using Modified k&n filter or else. If you never installed any aftermarket air filter then don’t worry it could be a shop filter
Thanks
Most likely a vac, but I have seen various types of equipment use filters like that. Air compressors, small diesels, generators, pumps, etc etc.
Thanks so much. I’m now 98% certain this did not come from my car! Many thanks everyone.
