Idk. Everyone has a right to complain about whatever it is they don’t like, just like I have the right to say I absolutely love Kai’s attitude and as someone that manages people, there’s certain qualities that will always stick out. Even if you aren’t performing 100%, you’re still giving 100% effort.

Hmm a top voted post stating that everyone has the right to complain, surely that means both posts critical and praising of Havertz will be treated the same for the rest of the post…

but that is simply not how things work at the highest lvl of football. It does not matter if someone is giving 100% effort, if what he puts out there is not good enough he should not play, as it will fuck up the team.

There are so many cool, nice people here on r gunners, who love the club and would go on the pitch and die for Arsenal, no doubt, but they should not play, as they are not good enough.

He seems like a nice guy, you cannot fault his effort, true, but he is not good enough and should not be on the pitch until he gets too that lvl. And this is not the banter era, we do not have 3-4 years to give him as we did Xhaka, so he can have 1 good year. Havertz has been in the PL for 3 years, he is the second highest paid player on the team, he cost the team 65 mil, he has not fixed any of the problems we got him here to fix, and now as you can see we have to do loan/buy deals to get in new players as we are in the FFP limit. The harsh reality is, he needs to perform or he needs to be moved on. Simple as that. And he needs to do it fast.

I’ll happily manage someone with a positive attitude and strong work ethic who is half as competent as someone with a poor attitude or who thinks they know better.

i don’t get you guys. this is not a tech company, its simply not how things work. He has to perform on the pitch, all the other stuff, him being a nice guy, easy to manage etc…that come wwwaaay down the line. Most important thing is how he plays on the pitch. So far, for being the second highest paid guy on the team, and with a price tag of 65 mil he has been shit. No more, no less, call a spade a spade. He needs to pick things up, no matter how nice of a guy he is, this is not good enough.

Even aside from that, there’s a lot off the ball and a lot defensively that he truly has done very well for us. Plus his size and ability to play multiple positions will be valuable going forward. He always looks like he’s lacking confidence with the ball, but hopefully that can come along with time while he tries to assimilate and become more comfortable.

Everyone likes to compare him to Xhaka, but they compare him to Xhaka only after multiple seasons with Arteta and skipping past plenty of growing pains. Kai has only played 1/3 of a season here ffs.

That Xhaka point is the most crucial one given the context. Many people wrote him off. Plenty of people saw the player in there but we didn’t have the squad to get it out of him and then one day we did. And he thrived.

Kai clearly does what Arteta asks and if you are someone that is doing exactly what you are coached to do, then I’m sorry but you are playing games.
